95 Verses of God's Word reveal the truth about eternity.

95 Verses are showcased which reveal the truth about eternity. These verses present a significant biblical teaching which is here called Exclusive Immortality. This teaching is that only believers in Jesus Christ inherit immortality through Him (not all mankind). The verses are split into two categories: The first comprises 42 verses which present immortality as being exclusively inherited by believers in Jesus Christ and the second, 53 verses which describe the final judgment for sinners as suffering followed by eventual death in the lake of fire.

The other view, which arose from Greek influence on the early Church (introducing the unbiblical idea of the immortal soul) is presented under the heading 'Universal Immortality'. There you will find the key Bible verses used to defend the view that all people are inherently immortal (possessing immortal souls) – and therefore that sinners cannot (ultimately) perish. These verses are presented under two categories: (1) for verses that are believed to state that 'everyone is immortal' and (2) that 'unbelievers never (literally) die' in the final judgment. Each of these is followed by a response presenting the alternative meaning based on the whole revelation of God's Word.

95 verses of Scripture (not 'theses' of man) are central to this presentation. Focus words and phrases have been highlighted in bold to smoothen the process for you.

Here, we are not discussing opinion; we are primarily hearing God's Word. You will find, then, that 95 verses of Scripture (not 'theses' of man) are central to this presentation. Focus words and phrases have been highlighted in bold to smoothen the process for you. Whether we take it one verse at a time or skim through phrases in bold, may we come humbly with a readiness to hear God's Word.

The Bible verses are presented on this website are displayed in the literal, word-for-word translation, the English Standard Version (ESV) and are also viewable in the New International Version (NIV).

The final encouragement would be to take a moment to commit this exploration of God's Word to Him in prayer, asking that He would lead us and we would hear.
